Need for justification...? I don't think so...

Could someone please wake me up when this world stops being full of people who like to belittle other people's achievements in order to make themselves feel better?

I had this random conversation with a totally random person today who automatically presumed that just because I'm studying in London it must mean that my parents are loaded with money and that I always get everything I whimsily desire at a moment's notice...

Just so everyone is on the same level of understanding about this: I am not going to justify myself to A-N-Y-O-N-E, let alone people who don't even wish to get to know ME before jumping to their own malicious conclusions!

So there!!!!

NO!

No!
I don't want you to say you're sorry!

No!
I don't want you to say you will change, because you won't!

No!
I don't want you to make excuses and say "it's just how things turned out and no one is to blame"!

No!
Don't even think of saying you are convinced you are right and just stubbornly stick to your theories and beliefs, belittling things other people say or do... You would do better to start listening to what others have to say!

No!
We are not little children anymore! People are responsible for the things they say and do, and we both know it! Taking responsibility for your actions is the least you can do to show that you respect other people and yourself, too.

So for God's sake, just act like a grown-up for once in your life!!!

And NO,
this post isn't dedicated to anyone in particular. Though I know many people who would do well to read it and reflect on it a little bit... Come to think of it, so could I... :)

A random observation

Can someone please explain to me where the hell this world is going to?!

I mean, everyone is so obsessed with money and power and (especially here in Croatia) physical appearance! It's like you're nothing if you're not quasi attractive, with loads of money you (of course) DIDN'T earn yourself (or didn't earn it by an honest day's work), or if you don't drive the latest model of BMW or Mercedes... And the chiks?! Oh my God, the chicks!!! They would sell their soul for a ride or two with the afore mentioned human specimens and the only thing their brains seem to be capable of grasping is the price tag on the clothes they wear and, particularly, on the clothes other chicks (perceived rivals) wear. It's all about who is wearing what, what kind of car they're driving, how much money they spend when they go out and how many other quasi celebrities they know and hang out with... Totally lame!

Any other concept or conversation is completely wasted on these people... Try explaining to these people that you work overtime because you find satisfaction in getting the work done on time and seeing it as a great opportunity to learn new things, or, better yet, try explaining them that you prefer driving your 15 year-old car and live in a modest house or appartment and being able to look yourself in the mirror when you wake up in the morning to having loads of money you made through suspicious dealings with known criminals. Good luck in having a conversation of this sort with people like these.

For my part, I am quite happy to be surrounded by people who care more about the quality of their emotional life and interpersonal relationships with their families and friends, than the material possesions that can never, ever, replace the warmth of a gentle human touch or a kind word that makes you feel better even in a seemingly hopeless situation.

So, my dear readers, take your pick: do you prefer to pile up worldly goods that will never do you any good, or will you take the time to create something that lasts over time and distance and makes you feel like you have a home, wherever you go???

I've made my choice, now it's up to you! ;)

Mine! Allllllll mine!

This is intended to be a vent for the occasional frustrations I experience in life, which, being a nice and polite person, I don't get a chance to vent properly in real life. So, if you want - read on, if not - who cares, this is my space anyway! :-P

Respect!
